On June 15-18, 2015 the 63rd Plenary session of the Conference of European statisticians and 12th Meeting of the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy (CSSP) took place at the headquarters of United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The Russian delegation was chaired by Mr. Alexander Surinov, the Head of Rosstat.

Statistical data production for monitoring of accomplishment of 17 targets and 167 goals of sustainable development for post 2015 will require a particular re-adjustment of national statistical systems. Both workshops held in the CES framework were dedicated to the topics “The Response by official statistics to the Sustainable Development Goals” and “Modernisation of Statistical Production and Services”.

Topical discussions within the first workshop showed concerns of ECE statisticians about the additional burden due to development of new indicators for monitoring of SDGs. In the framework of the second CES workshop the High-Level Group for the Modernisation of Statistical Production and Services presented new international standards CSPA (Common Statistical Production Architecture) è GAMSO (Generic Activity Model for Statistical Organizations), that develop methods and directions for modernization of statistical systems.

The head of the Russian delegation participated in panel discussion on new approaches to modernisation, by providing information on centralization peculiarities of Rosstat statistical system with regard to its broad regional structure. He also made a point of paying attention to interests of respondents and users of statistical data by striking a balance while setting the volume of statistical data produced.

On June 17-18 the Russian delegation participated in the 12th Meeting of the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy in the capacity of observer.

Agenda of the meeting provided discussions on relevant issues of measurement of sustainable economic growth, linkage of trade data with business statistics data, prospects for development of globalization statistics and implementation of complex economic accounts. Of particular interest is the OECD work on conceptual and methodological coordination of all surveys conducted by organization in the field of education and professional training.
